Born from a custom request, the Cult Leader started as a "secret menu" mod on our wildly popular Cultist set — and the demand made it permanent.

The story: a luthier's customer loved the Cultist but wanted a bridge pickup with a little "more." We agreed to build it, on one condition — it had to sound exceptional. It did. Word spread. Here we are.

What makes it different from the Cultist? Same neck pickup. Same Alnico 4 neck / Alnico 8 bridge magnet pairing. The difference is in the bridge — wound to ~13k DCR for that extra bite and modern output that some players need without crossing into muddy territory.

  • Neck: 8k DCR — warm, articulate, balanced
  • Bridge: 13k DCR — hot, focused, aggressive without losing clarity
  • Magnets: Alnico 4 (neck) / Alnico 8 (bridge)
  • Output: Modern

Compatibility

Fits any standard humbucker-routed guitar — Les Paul, SG, ES-335, "S"-style, and most double-humbucker platforms. Available in standard and tremolo spacing.

This is by far my favorite humbucker!!!

This is by far my favorite humbucker I have ever played or heard. I don’t know what crazy ritual Mike does when creating these but they are masterful. Clarity? Check. Aggressiveness? Check. Something about the alnico 8 and the wire and his winding makes this pickup so unique. My guitar sounds incredibly heavy without loosing note definition. If I want to dial the gain back the clean tones are phenomenal. Works well in everything from rock to doom metal. I stand by it so much that I constantly add these to my builds!
