Sometimes you need to know the polarity of your pickups. Like when you order a new single coil neck pickup and you want to make sure it will be in phase with the middle already in your guitar. Or you need a new Jazzmaster™ or P-90 or Jazz Bass or P &J Bass bridge pickup and want to get the noise cancellation in the middle switch position.
