The Rattlesnake Specials are based on the legendary '59s preferred by a certain iconic Texas boogie and blues artist who left us way too soon. This set is designed to help us mere mortals capture some of the spark that lit a fire of blues resurgence back in the eighties.
Period correct heavy Formvar magnet wire, wound a bit lighter — that's right, Stevie's favorite stock 1959 pickups were not extra hot! With less winds you get more clarity across the frequency spectrum.
Built with the same vintage-spec'd materials including AlNiCo A5 magnets, cloth pushback wire, and vulcanized fiber bobbins. The middle pickup is reverse wound, reverse polarity for hum cancelling in the 2 and 4 switch positions. If you prefer that all the pickups have the same wind direction and polarity like the originals, just tell us when you place the order.
